CTFS Offers
Sound Stages
CTFS offers 7000 m² (75347 ft²) of high specification soundproof stages spread over four buildings. Stage 1 (2100 m² or 22 600 ft²) has a roof height of 20 m (65.6 ft) with a lighting gantry at 15m (49.2 ft) height with 1,5m (4.92 ft) walkways. Stage 2 (1850 m² or 19 910 ft²), Stage 3 (1200 m² or 12910 ft²) and Stage 4 (1850 m² or 19 910 ft²) each has a roof height of 17m (55.7 ft) with a lighting gantry at 12 m (39.4 ft) height with 1,5m (4.92 ft) walkways. The lighting gantries has a hanging capacity of 150kg/m2 and a point load of 1,8 tonnes.
A full range of guaranteed electrical supply options (2.5 MVA Eskom supply and 2 x 500 KVA back-up generators) and a soundproof rating of 55 DB ensure production proceeds without any interruption.
Stage Support
Each stage has dedicated support facility which includes fully furnished luxury star rooms, wardrobe facilities, make-up rooms, change rooms, administration offices, kitchens and an open plan work room.
Production Offices
Fully equipped production offices which include an open plan general office space, several offices, accounts offices with safe room, kitchen facilities and boardroom with conference facilities; and high-tech audio visual equipment for presentations and meetings. All production offices are equipped with data, internet and telephone access points.
Workshops
Two workshops of 3157m2 (33976 ft²) with 6 x mini-workshops, 6 x offices each is designed for multi-purpose useage i.e. art depart, design, wardrobe, SFX, VFX, set dressing, props, set construction and storage space.
Back-lot
We have ample back-lot facilities available for outdoor set-building.
Production Support
Experienced local high-tech service companies, with proven track records, offering a wide variety of production support which include digital multimedia; camera equipment; animation and VFX; wardrobe; lighting and grips; vehicle rental; art, prop and set dressing; payroll services; stunts and SFX; construction; model-making and animatronics; animal wranglers and action vehicles.
Stock and Processing
A full service film laboratory is available with 24/7 neg processing of 35mm and 16mm colour negs in both regular and Super 35/16 formats. Kodak has Imagecare status labs and a full range of stock is available. Fuji stock is imported on request.
Post Production
Outstanding full audio and video post-production services are readily available to you. From the latest off- and online digital editing tools including AVID and Lightworks, special effects systems Flame and Henry, and high quality Ursa Diamond and Spirit Digital telecines with Da Vinci grading in PAL and NTSC formats to world-class digital neg-matching facilities and one of only five existing Kodak high definition “lightning” digital transfer systems in the world.

With support from national government, the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Cape Town Film Studios’ future Film Fund offers you a variety of options geared to ensure your film’s commercial success. Cape Town Film Studios will assist you with all application requirements relevant to your production.
Connectivity
High-speed broadband connections to all major international cities is a given, including direct transfer of full length film rushes in 35mm format.

Blue/Green screens, water paddocks and super stages are available – if there’s anything you need, simply ask us and we’ll get it for you. Any additional service, production facility and/or production space can be catered for, provided that it is requested in time.
